Speaking of EA and domestic control, today at an EA Games showcase event in San Francisco they made that just a a little firmer. In regards to their latest endeavor with LucasArts and BioWare on the upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, they would be assuming all publishing duties officially for the game. In a press release from EA (and affirmed from BioWare's cofounder Ray Muzyaka) "certain publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities previously designated to LucasArts will shift to EA, so that all publishing, marketing and distribution responsibilities can be centralized for efficiency."
This however, shouldn't affect players directly, and Muzyaka was quick to confirm that, "it makes things easier to have under one roof, and that will eventually benefit players."This will allow for speedy and efficient customer service, along with cemented timeframes for uploads, DLC, and patches.
This does not mean that LucasArts will lose any creative control during the projects stay. Overall, it's a way to guarantee the best of the product... as long as they get a release date announced.
